Storing

Survey data are stored indefinitely with the {glossary_term('BTO')} on their Oracle database which runs the SMP Online Portal. This includes any data that are restricted due to species sensitivity or any that are not openly available and require the submission of a data access request to gain access.

Archiving

Data are archived with the {glossary_term('NBN')}, following the standardisation of the data into the required format. The {glossary_term('NBN')} then shares data onwards with {glossary_term('GBIF')}, which makes the data findable and accessible beyond the UK.
