Search Data

DASSH strive to make marine biodiversity data accessible, in line with the FAIR Data Principles. Visualise, search, and download individual species records using the DASSH Mapper tool, or search for marine datasets across UK organisations using the MEDIN Portal.

DASSH Mapper

The DASSH Mapper is an interactive map that allows you to search, view and download species and biotope records held by DASSH.  You can search by survey name, species, biotope, originator, owner, and can filter by location and whether they’re DNA records.

MEDIN Portal

The MEDIN Discovery Metadata Portal contains metadata records for whole datasets/surveys that fall within the remit of MEDIN data i.e. Marine Environmental Data.  You can search for records by a variety of parameters including dataset title, keywords, location and temporal scope.  Where data are available, a link to download the data is included in the record as well as contact details for the data provider.

The Marine and Environmental Data and Information Network (MEDIN) promotes sharing of, and improved access to these data. It is a partnership of UK organisations which commit to good marine data management and MEDIN delivers data through a network of accredited Data Archive Centres (DACs).  Each DAC covers a different data theme, for example bathymetry, meteorology or oceanography data.  DASSH is the DAC for marine biodiversity data covering flora, fauna, fisheries and habitats in the UK. You can search the MEDIN portal for metadata held across the DACs including DASSH.
